I can understand the modem strategy.

What is the Sofia strategy? It's extremely expensive and investors need to hear the rationale. I understand that they want to establish mobile-scale and establish x86 as a credible software platform, but why attack from the low-tier? They're basically racing to the bottom against Spreadtrum/MTK etc...

Wouldn't it make more sense to come in at the high tier and waterfall into the lower tiers?

Perhaps the new QCOM guy can improve execution.
