Baja - context is very important. You seem to have trouble with posters positions on shorting. Perhaps that is because in the context of the discussions here the posters are referring to illegal naked shorting but are only calling it shorting. I don't think you will find anyone on this board that does not understand that trading short is a normal form of investing and provides balance to the market. But those types of investing are decidedly different from the practice of illegal naked shorting. The SEC has rules against the practice and does prosecute people for it. When naked shorting there is still a requirement to prove deliverability of the shares within 6 weeks. Whether you agree or disagree with that rule or law it is still the way it is. And yes there are companies that engage in the practice and pay people to help drive stock prices down. You can scoff at that, say it is not so, say it has no impact on the stock all you want but it does not change the fact that it happens. Just look at the 73,000 thousand articles on google.

And for your reference when you agreed to the terms of service in IHUB you were made aware that these kind of things may happen. IHUB encourages its users to notify the SEC when they feel posts are encouraging illegal trading practices.
