Jag, don't know why you posted this because it is flat out incorrect. "Most of the oil in the US has already been found and produced - the peak of US oil production happened in 1970, and it can NOT be achieved again." Maybe you just cut and pasted it from some enviro website that just regurtates other false facts believing they are true.

One known example (of several): "The Green River Basin is the region surrounding the Green River in Wyoming, northern Colorado, and Utah. The basin reportedly has the largest fossil fuel deposits in the world [1], in the form of shale oil. There is an estimated 500 billion and 1.1 trillion barrels of potentially recoverable oil in the basin."

There is much more to the above story, the point being that we have recently discovered times more oil than all the Arab oil put together, and we are just discovering it there. Who knows what else is out there.

Yes, some day we should run out of oil. But that day is hundreds of years away. Don't be mistaken though, I am very much looking forward to hydrogen replacing gas for cars. The sooner the better! But, we are not running out of oil any time soon and our "peak" is still before us!
