This author sums it up well.

We should have done more Homework and we could have known the settlement would be peanuts. Instead we pumped this to $200M- $1B in settlement estimates.

"We were not completely surprised by the outcome, as the "climate" in court for "patent trolls" has changed in the last few years and several other players struggle to monetize their IP by litigation only. Given this new scenario, settlements have also become "disappointing" in nature for IP holders"
