Public does want government regulation. The lack of this regulation has lead to crime, violence, lost taxes, children getting access to illegal substances, and overwhelming the justice system.
There are TONS of honest Canadians that would love to access MJ, but cannot, or will not due to the criminal association. Criminal gangs are not the distribution answer. And if you think dispensaries are not going to be regulated, your crazy. They too need government supervision to prevent them from offloading product to criminals and children.
The Canadian public just provided the government a MAJORITY MANDATE to execute their platform. That platform is the government regulation and sales of MJ. So you are wrong again. Most Canadians have VOTED for a party that promotes regulation.
Just legalize it and let the local governments and people decide!? So now you're ok with municipal governments making up their own system? Do you realize how crazy hard that would be on municipal governments to do that. Hundreds and Hundreds of cities/townships all reinventing the wheel. Jeez man, you have no idea how public policy should be implemented. This is clear.
