you do not want to lose great leases by not meeting drilling commitment's only to see oil soar the next year a dry hole,which is rare these days, is better than losing land. Exco has a lot of well west of where I live and they have been some great long term producers. I think they pull through the rotten oil prices and live to fight another day.
