wbmw, AMD will be absolutely alone on the mainstream 64-bit market for at least 3-4 more years. If they won't be able to make it standard then only due some financial and manufacturing problems.

I don't see IPF playing in the fields where binary compatibility matters. I think half of those Itanium servers will be used as database servers, where instruction set doesn't matter at all. They can grab 50% of datacenter market still won't be able to promote the instruction set.
