In August of 1988 Intel was at .02. I would say that qualifies as a "penny stock"

Yeah right. In Jan.1988 INTC traded at$20.35. In Jan.1989 it was$35.23.
In Aug 1988 it had a low for the whole YEAR of $17.80. Use your head and try to explain how a global force like Intel worth Billions was selling for 2 cents EVER. You clearly don't understand how to read historical charts.
I don't know how you ever expect to "retire early" with such a poor understanding of a basic stock analysis.
