Good point and I'm sure he did the necessary DD before the acquisition.

I'm not an auditor but if I was taking over the responsibility for auditing a company, I would probably insist on a visit to satisfy myself of the starting point for future work that I would undertake.

Seems a reasonable request rather than relying on what someone else has told me - after all, I would be signing my name to confirm that any future audit is correct.

That makes me think that the new auditors are concerned with their credibility and reputation and will probably be highly professional in what they do but again, I'm not an auditor...

It's easy to formulate a number of different opinions from the situation - I could be wrong but equally, you could be as well - are you open enough to accept that you could be mistaken with your comment - I accept that I could be in the wrong here...
