Hey, Tenchu - you are right, it is a server! Server/client computing has to do with a software relationship between processes running on two (or more) computers across a network. The process which requests services is called the client, the process which responds to the request is called the server.

Now, server has a secondary, hardware, meaning - a computer which is optimized for hosting server processes. Generally, it is understood to have certain features such as large, fast disk drives, lots of memory and multiple processors.

However, that is not necessary. My print server is a small box, the size of a small hub with an external power supply and no hard disk. It is a server dedicated to running print jobs, and it is called a server.

But when we speak of servers here, usually we mean it in the sense of an expensive hardware-based solution for multiple services.
