He was right that the 8 ARM core design is stupid lazy engineering. Apple A8/A9 and Qualcomms 820 prove that.


It's not because someone is sometimes right that he always is. Of course the
8 core designs are stupid, but it's not lazy engineering, it's marketing. Like
when Intel was claiming frequency is all what matters back in P4 days.

Atom is a good chip as well.


It's good, yes. But it's not competitive against many ARM SoC contrary to
what Piednoel claimed. And this is both true for the CPU and the GPU. The
only advantage it has is that it can run legacy Windows code.

I am not trying to defend Geekbench, I don't use it (I play with SPEC 2006
and SPECv6, the upcoming SPECCPU, and other very taxing benchmarks). But
Piednoel has been wrong often enough that I won't accept any of his claims
unless he displays proofs. If you think not accepting things without hard
proofs is a bias, then yes I'm definitely biased smile
