The E85 modification being tested in Australia consists of a kit which operates between the car's engine management computer and the fuel injectors to maintain correct fuel-air mixtures.
Mills said that to run on E85, cars also required a one-off additive to the oil to protect engine internals. The oil was then replaced after the first 2000km with normal oil.
The modification kit, installation and additive would cost about $400.
I take it that the kits mentioned above are Xcel's though it is not directly mentioned in the article.
I would agree Pup that the tests could be further along then we think.
