If Intel can deliver a superior product then there may be benefits for Apple. Intel already works with Apple in the x86 space and has given Apple "specials" and early access to chips and Intel isn't one of their direct competitors. I'm sure that Apple would also love another supplier, especially if they can make them in the US.



Apple loves to play suppliers off of each other to its benefit, so I have little doubt that Apple would entertain offers from Intel should the latter be able to actually deliver.

However, it's pretty telling that Apple chose both Samsung/TSMC for the A9 and is going with TSMC exclusively for the A10. There is something keeping Intel from winning these contracts and I don't think it was a question of price since I'm sure Intel would have loved this business.
