Yeah, this is good stuff if true. As long as these chips are going to be sold anyway it's better if Intel gets a piece of the action than to be left out in the cold.

It would obviously be preferable for Intel to offer a great set of merchant products either with leadership x86 or ARM CPU cores but working together with key OEMs who want to vertically integrate and playing fab is a respectable way to make some money in this market, too.

If Intel can win the Apple contract, then I think this would be the ultimate mobile win for the company, but I don't think this is in the cards anytime soon if ever given how aggressive the foundries are going after that contract (I firmly believe that the main reason TSMC is so aggressively trying to go through nodes is because Apple is driving them hard).
