I understand RTI is supplying the metal for the LEAPs TiAI needs.
So looks like Arcam will have to be happy with the GE9x which they have confirmed will use EBM LPT blades. I am not as sure about the GEnX, do u know?
So why not continue to jointly develop engines in the CFM JV ? Why do it for the LEAP and not the 9 and N ?
I assumed they were using CFM so they could sell into Europe more easily which would make sense but why go alone now?
I do worry a bit that we are so far out from GE9x production that CMCs may be ready. There must be some pressure to move to CMC LPTs as they would allow for a much lighter engine. I think I read where every pound taken from a rotating part reduces the shaft and housing weights by 7 pounds. But don't quote me on that. I believe CMCs are at least 20prct lighter.
