It seems to me you're right. I was figuring pretty close to the same thing.

It seems almost unbelievably obvious, but clearly they're not afraid to throw a little rain on things with their warnings on PRASM, etc. If it drops the price a little, it helps them in the long run. The benefits to them outweigh the sting.

I would do the exact same thing btw. Sucks to be on the receiving end of it, I know, believe me.
