Apple probe found option grant "irregularities"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. (NasdaqNM:AAPL - News) said on Thursday an internal probe uncovered irregularities related to the company's issuance of stock option grants between 1997 and 2001.

A committee of the company's board of directors hired an independent counsel to perform an investigation and has informed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission of the probe.
