A true account: a client, an orthodox Jew, had just admonished me that didn't I know better than to discuss religion or politics. I retorted that they made for the best discussions. He wasn't buying. I then said, "So how's married life treating you?" He replied, "I just got divorced."

We eventually talked about flowers.
