Regarding NAFDAC approval, my understanding is that there are two levels of approval. The first is simply a registration allowing the "drug" to be sold in the country. This is essentially analogous to a company being allowed to sell herbal remedies in the US. Essentially it says that the compound is safe to use.

The second is a more comprehensive approval that takes into account clinical data. This level of approval says that the manufacturer can make specific claims as to the indication (SCD) of the compound.

Can anyone else elaborate on this process? My understanding is that the first level is a given for Nicosan, but that the trick is getting the more advanced level of certification.
