Baloney. FHF had a responsibility to abide by the law enacted by Congress which was the Housing & Economic Recovery Act. It's mission was to conserve housing and the economic recovery. It's mission was not to assume fiduciary responsibility to create wealth for shareholders in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And, yet, in its interpretation of it's role, FHFA in fact did make huge contributions to conserving shareholder's interests in the GSEs.
