That's exactly right. Just the specific slides. Location doesn't matter, as all the doors are at the same height from the ground.
FAA and Baltia found the problem, but FAA cannot let Baltia slide, otherwise, they are playing favorites to Baltia and not the entire industry.
At best, once (and I hope by now) that the FAA has rewritten it's requirements, Baltia will be allowed an R1 deployment to remain fairness to the entire industry.
Baltia may not be held accountable, but knowing how FAA works and to save it's butt, an R1 Deployment may be the best course of action, and a fleet service recall to all aircraft flying in the US to make whatever correction as needed.
My guess is that Goodrich (not BF Goodrich), now UTC Aerospace will be making corrections on it's packing process to prevent this error for the future.
That is exactly how I would see how FAA function based on my previous experiences.
Baltia will be moving forward, as I can see this happening 100%. It's just a matter of when that is frustrating to all of us.
