One other good reason he may have to remain low key is the very deep pockets of those who stand to lose money with his disruptive technology.

If I'm DuPont, why sit there and let this guy get off the ground. He might cause major problems for Kevlar. It would be far cheaper to pay a special interest group or donate to a political campaign to forever stall this guy than to pay a premium when he's off and running. I can buy his technology for peanuts when I bankrupt him.

That's on the paranoid side but that stuff happens every day in every country.

No saying it is happening in this case, but again, it's plausible.
