I am copying here a comment that someone posted in Seeking Alpha:

Nothing becomes true until it is officially denied.
Paulson denied problems in the GSEs (while he was recommending peers to short) and later on placed them in Conservatorship.
Bernanke denied problems with subprime loans and a few months later the
subprime crisis took place.
Now Corker is denying the release of Fannie and Freddie from Conservatorship.
To me that is the confirmation of the release and settlement with shareholders.
