I wonder when news of wheel chair autonomous guidance will come out? Hopefully soon (IMO). Imagine the freedom/possibly for the many thousands that will gladly add this feature for an increased quality of life.

250,000 Americans have spinal cord injury of whom 47% (129,000) are quadriplegic (source: NSCIA). 30,000 Americans are living with ALS (source: ALS Association); 400,000 Americans have MS (source: Multiple Sclerosis Foundation) and millions of elderly Americans suffer from hand tremors – all of whom have difficulty using traditional power chair joysticks or alternative input devices and would benefit from the Cyberworks self-navigating add-on technology to regain their mobility and dignity of life.

The grant will fund a scientific collaboration between the University of Waterloo and Cyberworks for the development of advanced autonomous path planning technology and will apply the results of past research on planetary rover technologies as well as new areas of mathematics to non-Boustrophedon Path Planning for Cyberworks' next generation of autonomous navigation guidance systems.
