....Cargo volumes at the Paradip port stood at 6.3 million tonnes, up 10.5 per cent y-o-y. The port witnessed robust growth in volumes of POL (22.1 per cent) and other goods (50.9 per cent). The cargo of these two commodities accounted for nearly 40 per cent of the port’s total cargo. However, a sharp 29.6 per cent fall in coking coal volumes to 710 thousand tonnes affected the port’s overall traffic. Mormugao port witnessed the fastest growth in cargo traffic among all ports. Cargo volumes at the port increased by 41.3 per cent y-o-y to 1.3 million tonnes. Other ports that registered a rise in cargo traffic were Kolkata (30 per cent), Haldia (19.4 per cent), V.O.Chidambaranar (18.3 per cent), Ennore (8.4 per cent) and New Mangalore (1.6 per cent). Cumulative cargo traffic during the period April-August 2015 stood at 252.7 million tonnes, which was 5.5 per cent higher as compared to the same period a year ago. This rise was mainly aided by the growth in cargo traffic of POL (5.4 per cent), thermal coal (20.1 per cent) and other goods (19.9 per cent)....
