Here is the deal. I talked to them for weeks on a daily basis. I have filed an official complaint now with the authorities and will hear back soon but I already know that the reply will be BS as always. I just do this so maybe these friggin idiots at IB realize that they have to change something these morons.

There are 2 possibilities in general. A stock is down for the day and the ask price is more than 20% higher than the last price of the stock. You won't be able to buy at the ask. But you can go to the chat and ask for a widening of the price cap.

Second case is that a stock is up more than 20% for the day on the ask price where you wanna buy. In that case you can't ask for the widening, they won't do it. That was different until a few weeks ago. Until a few weeks ago you always could widen the price cap on any stock no matter how far. That was already annoying but these idiots thought they need to get even more annoying. I simply can't understand why a broker would do this. It's beyond silly. If there would be any broker out there with a similar fee structure and such a good trading interface I would be long gone but there isn't. Not even close.
