In my estimate 41 patients for 2 to 3 years follow up, would cost at least $3 mil and perhaps double that depending on the UCSF procedures and duration of follow up!
So why then would the UCSF pay for such a cost???
The only reason that I can think of, is that UCSF is expecting the trial results to increase the ORR of the Combo vs Keytruda alone which will surely influence the FDA to grant Commercial approval. UCSF would then be in a key position to partner and/or license the Combo therapy at UCSF and thereby re-coup their $multi-million investment many fold.
