As far who is to blame, it is not Kim Thompson. Period. He expected this deal to be done with Vietnam LAST YEAR IN JULY, yet is not yet completed. It is fifteen months we have been waiting on Vietnam.

Regardless of blame, it still begs the question: how long will be too long? I agree that we are over a year overdue in the setup of the pilot commercial facilities, but how much longer will we have to wait? I understand the appeal of the cheaper labor cost and higher sericulture skills of the Vietnamese workforce, but why not pursue other avenues while waiting? Ben stated to me previously in an e-mail that the current pilot facility is expandable and has the ability to produce metric tons at full expansion. Why not expand? Or even better, why not take some old, cheaper land in a temperate environment and set up a larger pilot facility here in the USA and plant some mulberry while we wait? Entogenetics does not have an issue doing this, why should KBLB? Assuming Vietnam keeps delaying this, how long will we need to wait until they do something like that, if ever?

I understand that a previous interview with Jon Rice stated that they would rather work with companies and contracts than start production. My response to that is: Why? I could guess that maybe they want to get Big Red, SpiderPillar®, or Dragon Silk™ ironed out and have that be their launch product. They seem like they would be much more impressive than Monster Silk®, so I can see the appeal of that, but Monster Silk® still has market value, so why not pump out as much as possible while you can?

I am hoping that this upcoming conference call or Spider Sense newsletter will shed some light on what is happening behind the curtain and why they have made the choices that they did.
