AMD/DELL Deal.

This doesn't really make much sense. DELL patiently waited for months swallowing all the P4s Intel could shovel their direction. Even though their marketshare took a hit, they remained loyal to Intel, and now at the impending release of Conroe, DELL decides capitulate and diversify with across the board lines of Opteron\Athlon\Turion. The only reasonable explanation is a corporate temper tantrum after being asked to take a couple steps back in the line.

FWIW, DELL is still way ahead of Gateway at Intel's feed trough. Our Gateway rep. told us that they likely wouldn't offer a Broadwater system until a month or so after Dell. She told me that Intel was planning a 2nd stepping about a month after the inital release and that Gateway prefered to wait for it. Not likely, but at least, she made it sound convincing.
