Great posts as usual SLC, I have read 6-7 articles like these the last few days from the USA Today to NY Times and on Twitter...they all seem to focus on Elephants and their tp53 genes and the fact that they have 40 copies of this gene...I am not seeing much discussion on what is being done to re-activate human P53 genes in cancer patients through trials like at Dana Faber and others...I imagine Elephants need 40 copies because of their size and rapid growth where as humans only need 2 copies (or even 1) as long as it is activated...maybe these type articles are forthcoming..
