If the GSEs needed no bailout, why did their boards accept the conservatorships?
How could the government have cooked FnF's books when all their accounting was done by the GSEs and audited by their private auditing firm?
I have no problem with claims that many banks were culpable during the crisis which explains why so many huge settlements have been litigated by the DOJ. The banks were a huge part of the crisis and MANY large ones failed to survive while the conservatorships of the GSEs, obviously, succeeded.
Your libelous comments on Judge Lamberth are unfortunate. How do you feel about the judge in the AIG case that ruled no damages were appropriate? Is that Federal judge an idiot, too? Are all Federal judges idiots, to you?
The government did use the GSEs to BAIL OUT the entire mortgage banking system by continuing to purchase toxic mortgage paper because that was all that was out there and failure to package and sell MBS as had been the norm for the GSEs for decades would only have killed any liquidity in the housing market and sent the U.S. into a depression.
JMHO.
