It really doesn't matter if they fire him or not. His full golden parachute kicks in under an acquisition too, meaning it is essentially a poison pill strategy for the shareholders.

In just about every possible scenario, If Brad Pyatt leaves of his own volition or is removed, he is awarded his Golden Parachute.
