So here's the response I got after a visit to Eraskh Village. Really expected nothing more or less. It's very clear that MRIB is involved in some shady stuff. For there to be no evidence of a wine plant or distillery that supposedly employs 170 people and has capacity of 20,000 cases a month? You make the call...

Matthew. We visited your village. Not much there and quite desolate. Odd that there were almost no men in the village, mostly women and children, but through some rough Russian translation we believe most have left for jobs in the city. Didn't find anything you'd call a distillery or winery, there's really nothing there at all as far as business and no one there seemed to know of anything of the sort and the name you gave me, Marani, didn't elicit any response, but a number of the villagers produce what the locals call Oghi. Basically home made vodka from whatever fruit or vegetables are available. Not sure what we tried but I think it was Mulberry. It wasn't very good and harsh. Acquired taste I guess.

Not sure if that was what you were looking for. Sorry I couldn't find anything else but we ended up staying for a while and had a wonderful afternoon. While i was poking around the village Dominique, as usual despite language barriers, made some new friends and got us a lunch invitation! A couple pictures included of our warm hosts and the kitchen fr which we had a delicious veg.meal

We are going back west tomorrow, in fact to an area which is a popular ski resort in the winter and plan to be in Turkey next week. Also, I saw you tried to call. Sat phone has been difficult so email is best as we have wifi at the hotels. I did see your press release from Atlanta by the way. Congratulations! And if you get a chance, can you please call Dafney to see if she needs anything. Her mother is there but we know how that usually goes. We will be back in Raleigh at the end of the month.
