I first found this latest piece in a news sheet called
Power Engineering

However it got there, via Jay Morakis or otherwise, I guess it
might also be in other specialist outlets..

total readership, wbo knows??

Maybe the dominant idea was to tell selected, niche people
about what will appear to them (in their office or club etc) as
an incidental or gossipy snippet of information

This information is about both an individual and a company who are both thus presented as embedded in the right place - the individual embedded in his military and social milieu and by extension his company is embedded in the engineering and oil business..

Readers are brought up to date with a bit of juicy gossip...as if the credibility of both individual and QS cannot be doubted

It is just a real shame that there can be no other way of proving a commercial truth - ie hard news..(and without all the innuendos of backroom socialising or masonic handshakes..)
