Thanks Robodog, well, then other planes are flying around with faulty slides. Maybe Baltia should blackmail the FAA (just kidding)... seriously, the FAA can't let other planes just fly around with faulty slides.
If I were the FAA and doing a study as you suggest might be happening, I would randomly call the other Airlines and test their slide deployment. Very quietly and very discreetly as to not upset the entire air line industry.
If you are correct with the other aviation posters about this vendor slide packing thing, then that would make sense. But wouldn't insiders know and wouldn't it be reflected in the stock prices of BF Goodrich or other air lines... I need to go look at them again and see what is going on... an industry wide panic about slides and aircraft safety would be a market nightmare and those who fly nightmare and it would do well to be avoided.
It would just scare everybody if it got in the news and then BF Goodrich's stock would nose dive (pun intended). It would be like battle of Lexington in 1775.
