I have little doubt that the Marani vodka is made in Armenia. My contention has always been that the whole back story of Wine Plant of Eraskh is fictional. Just a front company to funnel funds to for unnecessary inventory at a huge premium. MRIB has been over buying product for years. MRIB purchased over 4000 cases back in 2010 when they were out of business and unlicensed. How do you explain that? Hundreds of thousands of dollars went to purchase Marani inventory yet MRIB has virtually no sales.

As far as my father's reasons for going to Armenia I haven't the slightest idea why anyone would even want to go there. In the spring it was Vietnam and Cambodia. A few years ago I was horrified that he was off to Syria and Lebanon. Luckily the State department nixed that tour group. He's constantly traveling and other than the occasional emails and/or post cards I rarely know where he and his wife are off to but it's usually some place out of the ordinary. I get emails with him riding elephants, camels, mules, etc. Last time I even saw him was on a layover in San Francisco three years ago on his way to Indonesia. But I assure you he is in Yerevan and will seek out the Wine Plant of Eraskh and confirm whether it exists or not. We will know soon enough. Considering Wine Plant claims to have 170 employees and a distillery capacity of 20,000 cases a month in a village with a total population of less than 700, it should be quite easy to confirm its existence. Wouldn't you agree?
