Never occured to you that maybe Intel's had its day, eh? Not that I think it's going to disappear, but I think its dominant position is eroding fast, not likely to recur.

Yeah its getting cheaper and cheaper to develop leading
processes and the fabs that use them. Competitive MPUs
are getting simpler and easier and faster to design. The
economics of the semi industry increasingly favour small
decentralized operations with commodity processes and
low volume products. Intel wil simply be overwhelmed
and swamped by all the new MPU startups about to flood
into the marketplace to take advantage of the lower and
lower barriers to entry. OEMs have less and less interest
in getting total platform solutions including processor,
chipset, motherboard, and toolchains from one vendor.
