Please tell me that means you sold some as a risk/allocation decision as the present value of your holdings (on an obviously risky position) now exceed what you wish to risk.

Correct.

...I get so friggen tired of the "trading around a core position" crowd that I tend to puke when I read their posts. And otherwise some of them might think this is what you meant (which I seriously doubt).

I never buy a stock merely as a “trade”, although I sometimes end up repurchasing shares that I previously sold.
