Elder care and even the shopping helper are vertical markets. Pepper could be adapted to many vertical markets in Japan.

When revenues start to roll in I believe GOSY will make their own basic robot similar to Pepper. Personally I question the value of the "emotional" part of Pepper.

My background in psychology says that emotions are too complex to be thoroughly analyzed. I like Spencer's idea of enculturation by the family better for elder care.

Children express emotions differently than adults. Adult females express emotions differently than adult males. Autism is a great application and there the robot needs to be programmed to express and model appropriate emotion for the person using the robot.

All of the above are also conditioned and vary by culture.

Then you add the variable of - is the person whose emotions are being interpreted anxious, hungry, in a hurry, or outright gaming the robot.

Emotions in a robot get pretty weird.
