Ever since citizen's united, term limits would have less effect because the office holders are now essentially employees of their various oligarchs/corps. They are thus interchangeable and can be replaced with someone that has identical marching orders. When someone varies from that model, say a.bernie.sanders who is an idealist and is not an order-taker, their tenure would be shorter than their true contribution to society, and in all likelihood they would be replaced with yet another carbon copy corporate shill. The idea of ownership of the office by deep pocketed special interests is more of a problem than term length. IMHO
