This is actually a great example of how deceptive I think DSNY is.

Read the original Shazam PR from March 2014:

http://dsny.com/node/1489

"""Destiny Media Licenses Music Fingerprint and Meta Data from New Pre-Release Songs to Shazam
March 3, 2014
Vancouver, BC – March 3, 2014 – Destiny Media Technologies, Inc. (TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY), provider of the global standard for the secure distribution of pre-release music to radio and other music industry professionals, is pleased to announce an agreement with Shazam Entertainment Limited, the world’s leading media engagement company, whereby Destiny’s Play MPE® system will automatically transmit digital fingerprints and meta data to Shazam servers....."

"""The Shazam integration with Play MPE® will benefit both consumers and record labels by increasing the likelihood of successful song identification closer to the release date. The recognition and availability of song information allows the consumer to learn more about an artist, leading to a positive impact on digital sales."

Absolutely nowhere in that PR is there anything about an "trial" or "initial trial license"

As for any revenue, Steve confirmed why they were doing this on the CCs:

"Thus we believe there will be fewer unsuccessful matches. And this will be, we believe, a value-added benefit of distributing through Play MPE."

and:

"If you don't put your song through us you're going to be delayed in getting it into Shazam."

Maybe not "free" but Steve did say "minimal".
