What is somewhat amusing here is that this use of the silkworm as a generic protein production platform was thought of and acted upon several years ago by Kraig Labs.

But there is one BIG difference!
KBLB developed the "PLATFORM WORM" shortly after acquiring the rights to the ZFCompoZr tools.
The platform worm is a silkworm that does not produce silk or spin a cocoon.
Instead ALL of its prodigious protein factory is available for the production of specific desired drug etc proteins, and they are secreted as a pure product.

Thus KBLB can do anything this Japanese company can do but KBLB does it 10 or more times more efficiently in product per worm, and the product does not have to be separated from the fibroin, there is no fibroin!
