You are not thinking in the correct context. You gonna argue over some meager $ 10 per hour positions? Getting to the moon is complex and expensive.

How much did it cost the US taxpayers to put the first man on the moon?

The entire program cost $25.4 billion in 1973 dollars or roughly $170 billion in 2005 dollars, according to Wikipedia (@en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apo...). Knock off a billion or two from the 1973 figure and you'll have a guess on how much the program cost up to Apollo 11.
