Great post, commander! The third amendment sweep was not authorized, because the government's authority on this had already expired.

Of course, this is not the only way the government violated the law.

In Veterans law, the court has repeatedly ruled the VA has an obligation to follow its own regulations.
There is no difference here, the government is not exempt from following its own laws. To the contrary, the president takes an oath to :

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
