In other words, we're hoping for self-censorship rather than Admin censorship.

And is self-censorship does not happen? What standards should be used for self or Admin censorship? For example, some of us have made political posts. I am one of those. I have refrained from doing so more often than I have done so :), but I imagine that some who think our current administration is doing all the right things might wish that those who don't would engage in or be censored.

Obviously, this is a public and open board and all who wish to join in are welcome and encouraged to do so. If, however, individuals who have been openly contemptuous of the greater good in other fora are asked to join by you or other posters, it should be with the understanding that what might have been the norm elsewhere isn't the norm here.

I have belonged to mailing lists/on-line communities where an introductory post was sent to new joiners. It included statements about the purpose of the community, acceptable conduct, some examples of unacceptable conduct (quoting private messages on-list, personal attacks when in disagreement rather than reasoned and reasonable arguments based on the particular issue and like that),

Maybe such an introductory post should be considered by the esteemed administrators of this discussion group. If I invite anyone to join us here, and I have not so far, an administrator drafted statement about the norms referenced above might be useful. Maybe you and Tom could write up a draft and submit it to the board for our comments. That could be helpful.

Respectfully submitted

Ron, a humble and grateful iHub customer
