Well a China slowdown is essentially the same as any other large oil consuming country. A economic slowdown typically hits everything in a country. People don't work as much so there spending subsides. Once spending subsides then they don't catch a plane, drive to vacation, drive to work as much, go on a boat etc...... its an overall cumulative effect on an entire body of people which are gas users.

As an economy contracts everything contracts including oil usage.
