LOL FTTC is Fiber To The Curb that was implemented by the phone companies to expand DSL to their customers. The problem they found was their twisted pair was in bad shape. This is why AT&T and others are going Fiber to the home!

Cable is HFC Hybrid Fiber to Coax. Where fiber replaces coax trunk and then it goes to coax. I am working on a node that has 40 amplifiers! That is about 6 miles of coax. The problem with coax is if there is a loose connector, cracks in the cable, bad amp modules, or damage passives noise gets into the system and slows the internet speed dramatically. Sometimes it knocks it out completely! This is what I've been doing for the last 5 years finding the noise and temporarily fix it so the internet stays active.

If 4cable had any sales you would have heard it by now. They will be dumping shares so you poor shareholders pay for their survival!

Deep Fiber Solutions - a private company - has a very cool solution to get fiber to the home cheaper. If they go public I will be a shareholder.
