One of my coworkers surprised me this weekend by asking me about a MacBook Pro ($2,000) that he was interested in. The reason for the surprise is that he's always bought cheap machines in the past. He has a company laptop so I wondered why he was looking at Apple laptops and asked him so - not sure if he'll provide an answer. His kids are already using Macs for work and school and he knows that our family is big into them.

Our daughter's Mac is from 2007 so she could use an upgrade. I really wanted something with AVX-512 to play with so maybe the model after Skylake and she gets my Haswell-2.
