Do you really think they are hiring incompetent/bad cpu architects and process engineers? I don't see how they get away with that and compete. Intel is not stupid. I think rather they are hiring administrative staff, marketing folks etc. Marketing already was fairly diverse and frighteningly non-technical. Unfortunately marketing has been taking over by non-technical types that spew out meaningless processor names and glossed over features, hype social media etc.. The days of technical marketing have been dying since 2000. I was there for the cuts in 2007. It happened in the US and marketing was a prime target. I expect it happend again this go around. Meanwhile Intel is investing in South and Central America, Asia and growing markets, as they should. So I really believe this PC panic is overblown...
