Nothing happens in chip no news shock

I don't agree with the author. I think we will see a lot of interesting news in July/August, at least interesting for us.

We should expect a lot of interesting things in the Opteron and A64 infrostructure. That will be new motherboards and new design wins.

After we get the first nForce3 benchmarks, we should get benchmarks from Rioworks 2P/AGP motherboard, then we should wait for the first nForce3/2P board and then for the first nForce3/A64 board.

We also should get new SPEC numbers from the new Portland group compiler, if they really can get 375% improvement in SpecFP2000 (that will dust Madison score to nothing, right?). I think Mageek was joking there, but the 34% improvement seems a lot more realistic, so Opteron may beat Madison by nice margin in SpecINT and come sufficiently close in SpecFP.

It's usually about 6 months from the point new technology is introduced to the point the infrostructure catch up. I do expect a lot of nice things.

Edit: I'm sorry, I post too much. Did you all run out of post limit? This board is a good fun for me, so please excuse if that's too much.
